Why choose a package solution?

The most significant benefit is that you get a system that would cost tens of thousands of pounds as a bespoke solution, for a fraction of the cost. VirtualCharity took over 250 man days to develop and test. The average price per day charged by a web design company is around £300 (about the same as a main dealer garage and cheaper than a plumber). We'll leave you to do the maths1.

But cost is not the only benefit:

  • When enhancements are applied you get them free of additional charge
  • The software is maintained for you
  • Any errors in the system will be fixed free of additional charge
  • The solution has already been well thought out
  • The software grows with your requirements
  • You get a specialist solution designed for the charity sector
  • The software is developed to a professional standard rather than to your budget
  • There is an attention to detail seldom found in bespoke systems

So how can it look how I want it to?

Clearly your website will need to be styled to your requirements. Each of our customers has their own unique style sheet (CSS), technology that allows us to personalise your website. There is no restriction on the colours that can be used on the website other than colours that the browser imposes (for example the light blue Internet Explorer uses for a select drop down list). Content and images on your home and other pages can also be tailored for your needs.

The system has been designed for screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. This is a sensible restriction as a significant number of users will be viewing at this resolution.

We are keen for our system to be a flexible as possible and our goal is to modify the software to meet all our customers' requirements.

These restrictions are minor. If you arrange a demonstration of the software we can show you how individual your website can look when configured and styled differently.

We design our websites with accessibility in mind and with regard to the Disability Discrimination Act (1995).
